As soon as we clapped eyes on this month’s From Paris With Love Birchbox, we were dreaming of spending a long weekend in the city of love. So, what better way to bring our plans to life than with an ultra-chic, super romantic make-up look inspired by Parisian style?
STEP 1:
Make sure you’re starting with a squeaky-clean base before applying your make-up. Parisians are renowned for their love of skincare, so we opted for French favourite Absolution – using their Cleansing Water to gently remove all traces of dirt and leave skin purified and refreshed ahead of the make-up.
STEP 2:
This look is all about a perfected complexion while avoiding that high coverage, caked-on appearance. Benefit’s Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation is great for delivering a flawless finish without compromising on radiance. Best of all? It has SPF 25 protection – perfect if you’re on a city break in the sunshine.
STEP 3:
When we think Parisian beauty, it’s that classic feline flick that springs to mind first. Using a liquid liner like this one from Cynthia Rowley Beauty – the dark grey hue is less harsh than black and ideal for an effortlessly chic look. Keep it close to the lash line then flick out at the end to add definition.
STEP 4:
Next, apply lashings of mascara to really open up your eyes. Laura Mercier’s Full Blown Volume Mascara is packed with natural cotton fibres to add thickness and length, meaning even those of us with short, stubborn lashes can fake that fluttery effect.
STEP 5:
A red lip is a must-have for adding a little romance to this look and, in our opinion, the bolder the better! We went for Lord & Berry’s Vogue Matte Lipstick in Red for this look as we j’adore the bright postbox-red hue and think that the matte finish adds a modern twist. Go for your favourite then apply all over the lips, blot, and re-apply for a long-lasting finish. Et voilà!
